Some important details and information:
We are expecting a large turnout as always so come as early as you can to get the best choice of sites. This is a great event that benefits many various causes, and we thank you all for coming. Jim Horton, Chad Wykle, and their families and crew always work really hard to make the TC such a successful event, and we are really looking forward to everyone having some fun here at HP40.
We are under an Emergency No-Burn Order. No fires of any kind are allowed until these restrictions are lifted. Please do not smoke in the rocks or nature areas during these very dangerous conditions.
BRING CASH -- Event admissions, parking passes, food and etc. from vendors, and more, will often require payment in CASH ONLY as there may be no credit card machine available. The nearest ATM is 5 miles away at I-59 exit 166...So...BRING CASH to be sure you wont miss out...
The spectator admission is $20 per person (no price increase since the beginning of the Triple Crown Series in 2003) and covers you from anytime Saturday until sundown Sunday. This includes a non-competitor admission to all portions of the event. camping and climbing on Saturday night, and climbing until sundown on Sunday.
(Spectator climbing will be restricted during the comp on Saturday.)
WEEKEND PASS BONUS: The Weekend Pass is $30.00 and includes non-competitor admission to the event, 2 nights of camping (Fri. and Sat. nights) and 2 days bouldering (Sat. and Sun.) This pass covers you from sundown Friday until sundown Sunday, including all after-comp events, camping and climbing. Spectator climbing will be allowed all night on Friday, after the comp on Saturday and all through the night, and all day Sunday til sundown. Spectator climbing will be restricted during the comp on Saturday.
Armbands must be worn by all guests during the period from sundown Friday until sundown Sunday, and should remain visible at all times.
A lost armband is lost money, and a new one must be purchased in order to remain in the park.
There will be a very limited number of campground/campsite parking passes available Friday at the gate for $40 per vehicle, (according to the amount of traffic Friday there may still be a few more available on Saturday) and as always at this event, parking in the big field out front is FREE.
The parking passes are to encourage everyone to PLEASE CARPOOL, and to park in the free parking area in the front field, instead of filling the campground with vehicles. We really would like for you to use the free parking and help save the impact on the park, but we do offer the option for those who must have their vehicle in the campground.
PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FREE PARKING IN THE FRONT FIELD.
Unloading at your campsite may be done by purchasing a $40 parking pass at the gate, going to your campsite and unloading, then returning the vehicle to the front lot within about 30 minutes or so, turning in the pass at the gate for a refund.
No driving around inside the campground will be allowed during this event.
No vehicle movement at all will be allowed on Saturday night.
If you must go in and out, PARK IN THE FRONT FIELD!!
For safety reasons, all vehicles (incl. those with campsite parking passes) must remain parked throughout the duration of the event. No driving around inside the campground is allowed. If your vehicle leaves the campground, it will not be allowed back in. No unnecessary vehicle traffic is allowed inside the campground during the weekend. (These are parking passes, not 'driving around in the park' passes...)
THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!
Take advantage of the FREE PARKING in the front lot.
ALL BEER RUNS MUST BEGIN AND END IN THE FRONT PARKING LOT. Please do not drink and drive inside the campground. You will be held fully responsible for any injury or damage that you cause at HP40.
We are usually willing to put up with responsible drinking, if you leave out the driving, the injuries, the damages, the puking, and the passing out part.
Some of you in the past have chosen to save the parking fee and sleep in the front parking lot. We normally don't allow people to camp in the front field, but we don't mind at bigger events because it helps with the traffic and reduces wear and tear on the campground. Just remember to sign-in and get an armband, as armbands are required to be worn everywhere on HP40 property this weekend.
IF YOU SLEEP IN THE FRONT LOT, YOU MUST BE SIGNED-IN AND HAVE AN ARMBAND, OR I WILL LESS THAN CHEERFULLY WAKE YOU UP AT 3AMAND MAKE YOU GET ONE.
If someone is signed in with us, they are our honored guest. If not, we must consider them a trespasser until we get them properly signed in.
Sign-in upon arrival, get an armband, and save us all some trouble. Thanks.
DUE TO OVER 4 MONTHS OF DROUGHT CONDITIONS, NO CAMPFIRES ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE IN THE PARK,until conditions change and restrictions are lifted.
WE ARE UNDER EMERGENCY NO-BURN ORDERS OF SEVERAL KINDS, FROM ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, COUNTY, STATE, AND FEDERAL.
IT IS ILLEGAL TO LIGHT A FIRE OF ANY KIND UNTIL RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED!!
Read that statement again, and heed it well. A violation of these orders is a FELONY!
REMEMBER: BRING NO GLASS TO HP40!! Glass is prohibited at any time at HP40, EXCEPT IN YOUR VEHICLE OR IN OUR DUMPSTER !!
In order to protect the many rare, threatened, protected, and endangered species that make HP40 their home,
THERE ARE NO PETS ALLOWED AT HP40 !!
WHILE WE LOVE DOGS (we have 7), WE LOVE YOUR DOGS AT YOUR HOUSE. And while dogs make wonderful, faithful, loyal companions and family members, our guests' dogs can really make no positive contribution to a nature park and to the plants and wildlife that inhabit it. So, for the safety and well-being of all of the inhabitants of Horse Pens 40,
The speed limit is 5MPH (walking speed) inside the campground area, and 10MPH outside the middle gate to the paved road, and will be VERY STRICTLY ENFORCED for the safety of our valued guests, our unruly children and our old, blind, and lame horses. PLEASE SLOW DOWN WHILE YOU ARE AT HP40 !!! The child or horse whose life you save might be worth an extra couple of minutes of your time.
PLEASE SLOW DOWN while visiting HP40 !!! We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
